Business Change of Tenancy
A change of tenancy (COT) in the energy market refers to the process that occurs when the occupant or owner of a property changes. This typically happens when a business moves into new premises. It requires notifying the existing and new energy suppliers about the change to ensure a smooth transition of the energy account.
If you're currently relocating your business, sorting out your energy contracts is likely at the bottom of your to-do list, but delaying this could result in overpaying for your energy.
The previous energy supplier for the property you are moving into will change the contract to Deemed Rates, which are typically higher than contracted rates and apply when there is no formal energy agreement in place.
The new occupant must arrange a new energy contract promptly to avoid these higher charges.
At Sorola Energy, we can take care of everything for you. We will ensure your old supplier is notified, and your new supplier has everything ready for your moving-in date. We'll even keep an eye on your contract's end dates to make sure you're never rolled onto your supplier’s more expensive rates.
